Classic velvet dress
I just received this dress in green, size medium, on sale. I am very pleased. Medium is my usual EF size, though I occasionally wear a small. I agree with a few reviewers that the shoulders could be a bit more generously sized, probably only because of the lack of give in the fabric. Having said that, I found the fit to be good and the fabric great quality. I don't think it's as voluminous in person as it appears in the photos. I think that this will be a classic and versatile dress. I am 5'4" and the length is pretty much at my ankles.

Beautiful velvet dress
This is a lovely dress with beautiful fabric that can be dressy or a bit more casual depending on how you accessorize it. It runs large so I had to return for a smaller size and was happy it was still available as it was on sale.

Lovely color and fabric but lots of problems
I bought this dress in a size medium, which is what I usually wear in Eileen Fisher clothes, but it doesn’t fit well, or at least not on me. It is too long, grazing the top of my feet. It is tight in the shoulders and arms if I do anything other than let my arms hang by my sides. It is blousy in the middle section with more fabric than is needed. I plan to return this dress and ask for a refund.

A dress with some significant problems
The color and fabric are nice but this dress has some significant problems. I ordered a size medium, which is what I usually wear in Eileen Fisher clothes. The dress is so long that it grazes the top of my feet. The arm lengths and shoulders are OK when my arms are hanging by my side but when I move my arms, that part of the dress feels tight. At the same time, it's baggy in the middle. I had been looking forward to receiving this dress but may have to return it.

Some significant problems with this dress
I ordered this dress online to be shipped to me. It just arrived. I like the color and the fabric BUT for me there are significant problems. I ordered a size medium, which is what I usually take in Eileen Fisher products. The dress is too long. It is grazing my ankles. At the same time, the arms are cut too tight. When my arms are hanging by my side, the amount of "give" is OK but not when I lift my arms for any reason. The dress is too full for me through the mid-section. I guess I'm going to have to take this back for a refund.

Best Dress Ever
This beautiful dress arrived today and i couldn't wait to post a review. I purchased this elegant dress, in black, to wear to an upcoming holiday wedding. Everything about this dress is perfection. The fit, the long length (I am 5' 5" and the dress is the perfect ankle length) the beautiful drape, the fabric are more than perfect. I was worried that the bateau neckline would be too wide, but it is perfect also. The dress fits true to size in my regular size large. I can't say enough good things about this fabulous dress. It has exceeded my expectations. It is not only beautiful, but it deserves more than 10 stars!

Going strong 26 years
I bought this dress in a smokey purple back in the 1990s. I've worn it to my son's high school graduation and his brother's wedding. I've worn it with booties and with tights and mules, with a scarf and with my amber beads. It is still my go-to for an elegant evening. I love this dress.

This is a very elegant dress. I intend to wear thick warm tights under it and boots. It’s meant to be worn with beautiful jewelry. I saw it worn with a black turtle neck and beautiful Asian statement necklace by salesperson at Madison Ave store. I never would have thought to wear it that way but we looked great because both blacks were identical shade and made sense as we have already had freezing temps here. I took an XXS in this and usually wear a petite 6

I like the fit and flow of this dress. The fabric is comfortable. The neckline is graceful without being too revealing. The button cuffs on sleeves are a nice bit of polish. Only downside… no pockets! I rarely keep items if they don’t have functional pockets but there are enough pros to this dress to forgive the lack.

Just received this dress. Oh my… it’s a beauty. From the classic black velvet fabric to the long length, everything about this dress works. One minor complaint: the shoulders could be cut a little more generously but nothing to spoil the experience overall. Thanks Eileen!
