Ratings And Reviews

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just say no to synthetics like this I have always adored EF and most of what I wear is from her brand. Over many years I have luxuriated in the high quality and style of her clothes and the exquisite natural fibers — the lovely wools and silks and cottons and linens and cashmeres. But every season there seems to be less and less that I want to have in my closet. I understand the increasing use of synthetics to keep prices down as the man-made materials are significantly cheaper and encourage purchasing replacements sooner because they are not as durable. What I find, though, is that they are also not at all pleasant to wear. Despite what the marketing people want us to believe, synthetics are not warm in the winter (despite having ‘cozy’ in the item’s name) and they are not cool in the summer. They do not ‘breathe’ and they do not feel ‘silky’ but are plasticky and slippery and cheap. It's just another marketing campaign to convince buyers they are getting something they are not. Other vendors don’t seem to be reaching for as many synthetics and have discovered how to use natural fibers sustainably so I am not sure why EF has made what I consider to be a really poor business decision. Sadly, I will be purchasing less and less from EF and will be scrutinizing her fabric content very closely, something I did not need to do in the past because I could assume her quality. Times change.
