Very deep/long pile, glossy finish
Just received - as quickly returned. Long pile and shiny finish - looks like faux fur (not a plus for me). The neck, front and back, is markedly high, as stated by another reviewer. This garment is on the small end of the true to size range. Neck to shoulder width is not generous. I have matte finish, brushed surface alpaca garments that have a better fabric. The fabric content tag indicates that "nylon" is a component. Perhaps that provides the glossy surface?

Very versatile piece!
I hesitated on this purchase because of the price, but now that it’s arrived, expect to get much use from this vest. I intended it as a layer under the EF eggshell coat from last season, which is comfortable but not very warm. It works perfectly for that reason. The only small drawback is that the neck, when fully buttoned, comes up to my chin! I almost deducted a star for that purpose, but then imagined a windy day in January when I might be grateful for that feature. Most days, I will leave the neck unbuttoned.
The vest also works well as an outer layer. I tried it on over my bulkiest hoody and it fits beautifully. I can imagine this as a piece that works fall through spring under or over many garments.
The fabric has an interesting and pleasant texture. The vest lays flat, something that I appreciate. In a 5’6, short waisted, 157 lb. body, short, puffy vests do me no favors. It falls just a little shorter than mid thigh. Finally, I ordered a size medium and am happy that I did not size down.
Thank you for this piece, Eileen Fisher. I envision it with me for many seasons.
