Unusual texture
I didn't know what to expect when I ordered the "Washable Wool Stitch Top in Regenerative Wool." What did "stitch" mean? I had no idea!
This top is knit with a fine thin black merino yarn in a tiny garter stitch. The garter knit has more texture than the more commonly used smooth stockinette stitch. The sweater is not heavy, and the fine stitch gives the lightweight knit fabric a soft swingy bouncy drape, which is perfect for the loose shape of the top, which is wider at the hips. The texture of the knit, however, does seem to attract lint more easily than other knit stitches, and because the sweater is black, little bits of white lint are easily seen and sort of stick to the knit. But, the airy fine knit is so beautiful, and the texture feels so nice (a slight tooth), that I will try not to think about the the sweater's affinity to attract little specks. This top would be very nice worn with black silk pants. It is long enough to wear over leggings/tights. I really like the length and the width of the top at the hips. It falls nicely from my shoulders and does not get caught on my hips. I'm looking forward to wearing this top!
I ordered the top in size L (my usual size in most EF sweaters) and it fits perfectly -- not too small and not too large. For size reference, I'm about 5'7", about 165 lbs, 38DD, and 43 inch hips.
