Yes, the dress is “boxy”, but it is precisely that free fall, the 3/4 sleeve and the bateau neckline that make this dress so elegant.
Just put it on, maybe paired with a necklace or a scarf, and you’re good to go.

Not So Fun Little Black Dress
This dress just wasn’t right for me. I’m 5’7” and 148 lbs. I bought a size M and had to return it. The design was rather shapeless, leaving me to feel like I was wearing a big black sack. I like to hide my imperfections, but this dress lacked any subtle lines or design elements to acknowlege the curves inside. It just sort of hung there. It was way too matronly and shapeless for my taste. However, if you’re a fan of black crepe, the fabric quality and neckline are nice.

The perfect LBD
Stunning dress! How can something so flattering be so comfortable? It's my first Eileen Fisher; I ordered another one immediately. Would love to see more in this design.
Sizing Note: I'm often a L but got this in a M based on other reviews. Glad I did. It's still quite drapey--in a good way.

Beautiful Fabric & Drape
I love the heavier weight fabric and overall fit. The neckline was a little too high for me. I solved this problem with a small, inconspicuous tuck. If it wasn't for its high neck, I would have given this dress 5 stars.

An interesting neckline treatment lifts this dress up a notch. It could go with pearls and heels or leggings and boots. The weight and drape are good, size as expected with just enough ease.

Washable stretch crepe is wonderful as expected. Dress skims body with comfort and style. Love the idea of the boat neck but it is a bit wide for my shoulders leaving some gap in the overlap shoulder “flaps”. But this dress can go to many occasions with ease.

Love the fit & fabric: A new wardrobe favorite
I'm 5'3'', ~115 lbs. - the XXS fit well, with just enough room to be comfy without being billowy. If I could buy this again, I'd go with the smallest petite size. It will be my go-to dress for the warmer half of the year, and maybe even winter with trousers & a cardigan..

Not flattering
This looks knee length on the model. She must be super tall. This was well below my knees and just very unflattering. And I am an Eileen Fisher devotee. The fabric is great. I have other dresses in this fabric and love them. It's the cut of this one that didn't work. Returned. EF--please put pockets in the newer models of these.

I really wanted a little black dress that was comfortable, elegant, and would travel well. Put it on with a nice necklace or earrings and you're ready for a night out. Keep it simple, and wear it to work. Perfect. And I even got it on sale, a huge plus!

Beautiful fabric and drape
High quality fabric which drapes beautifully, and the length is perfect for work (no tugging the seams when you sit down). I have five other EF dresses in this fabric – one over 10 years old and the fabric holds up wonderfully. This dress seems to run a little large. I wished I had sized down, but my tailor will be taking in the sides a little to define the waist more acutely.

My Go To Dress!
I plan to wear this dress a lot...it's so chic! I normally wear (only) linen during the warmer months. I bought this dress to try something different in terms of fabrics. It's a year round dress and it runs a bit large, so size down. I plan to dress it up with pointy toe pumps or down with leopard print mules & sandals.

Love, love, love. The fabric is effortless and drapes beautifully. Perfect travel dress that can be worn by itself or I prefer wearing with cropped pants in the same washable crepe fabric. The neckline is classic and very complimentary. You will not regret buying this dress!
