...very lightweight & playful scarf
I purchased this scarf, in black, on sale. The website photos of the scarf don't reveal the beautiful quality of the woven organic cotton fabric. The scarf is very lightweight, even semi-transparent. When the soft scarf fabric is laid against my hand, I can see my hand and the rings on my fingers through the very finely woven black fabric. The long edges of the scarf are tightly woven selvages, and the short edges are very narrow fine hems. The tiny pompoms sewn to the edges provide playfulness and weight to the scarf -- bouncy round pompoms as rhythmic notations against the linear stripe woven plaid -- at once serious and silly! The pompoms laugh and giggle, the stripes hum soft quiet melodies...
There were large multi-language care instruction labels sewn to the small and refined EF label on one corner of the scarf. These care instruction labels were floppy and clumsy looking on such a refined scarf, so I cut them off carefully with scissors, while leaving the Eileen Fisher label and source label (India) intact. (I'm so happy that the scarf can be hand-washed.) I love this scarf and will wear it with my collection of black EF garments...I have a lot of black clothes in my closet...perhaps I'll wear this black scarf with something bright to accentuate the joyfulness of the pompoms? Cerise?

Looks like black on white, but isn't
This is the second time that I have purchased a scarf which was not labeled clearly. Both times the scarf looked as though it was black on white & turned out to be dark blue on white. The scarf was very nice, but I returned it because it was not what I had wanted. I would recommend it highly, except for this.
