Elegant top!
Very pretty top, high quality fabric, cute, modern silhouette. Can wear this to work over high-waist pants or skirt and a cardigan or shorter-length jacket/blazer. Had to order the next size up, though, because the armpit holes are cut uncharacteristically tight. Overall, recommend!

Good quality I like it short
I’m 5’6 and bought pl. I will wear with a jacket or cardigan, skirt or pants. I don’t like those long tops. Out of proportion and too casual.

Not designed for people with larger busts
Most EF tops fit me in a M, L or PL, but none of these sizes work with this top. Although the bust wasn’t too tight (although not ample), it left huge gaps under the arms. The resulting fit was awkward. The fabric is nice and the style looks amazing in the picture, But on my body it was a disaster. If you have a straight frame it may work.

Love this short top
I have a few items of Eileen clothing. I normally wear a medium but in this style the medium gave me the muffin top armpit and the large left a hug gap under the armpit where ones can see my bra if arm is raise. I will order the petite large the next time in this style.. I also had this same extact problem with silk geogette long shell however I order the petite large and this fix both armpit problems.

THE best base layer
This shell has been my favorite for years! I wear them ALL the time and always keep an eye out for new colors to add to my wardrobe. Once I saw the sale price, I bought a few more to stock up. I'm really sad that EF appears to be discontinuing this piece. Please reconsider keeping this as part of the EF System!!

The best "tee" ever
After years of buying tees shirts, only to find holes in them after wearing them only a few times, I splurged on the System Silk Boxy top. I now own seven as they are my staple year round. It is an ideal tank in warm weather and the perfect laying piece. The cut and length are flattering - I usually wear a small but like the drape of the medium better. I always feel this top is slimming compared to clingy tees or jersey knits. While machine washable, I prefer to have mine dry cleaned.
I can't say enough about this top. So disappointed to find out it's being phased out.

This boxy shell is great! I purchased it on sale because I needed a sleeveless black shell to wear under a boxy cardigan, and this really delivers! The length is much more flattering than the long Georgette Shell, and the overall fit is great! I will be purchasing more in other colors!

Chic and Comfortable!
I have this shell in black and cream silk and white linen. I wear it alone or layer the shell over my silk georgette bateau-neck long tanks in the same color.

Excellent basic shell
Have loved the silk crepe ever since first EF purchases in the 1990s. All items in this fabric (regardless of color) mix and match well. I do iron after laundering for neat look. Recommend this top for wider than normal shoulder straps to conceal bra straps, as many EF tops have too skinny a shoulder coverage to hide bra. Also want fairly snug armholes to conceal side panels of bra under arms. Large size fit 38DDD bust best without pulling, usually size Large fits best in EF woven fabrics without give.

Too short, almost cropped!
It’s more cropped than appears on the model. Unfortunately had to send back (still waiting for the refund to process). It’s a great fabric. I was surprised because I tend to have shorter torso so if anything, most shirts are too long!

Recommended, with reservations
For this as well as other silk shells of various lengths and styles, Eileen Fisher's sizing is inconsistent (even in the same item) and overall quality has definitely deteriorated through the years (seams aren't straight, or garments don't hang properly, for example). Still, if you can purchase at a deep discount the silk shells - tunics as well as this shorter version - are appealing go-to basics.
