Comfortable and elegant
Let me first say I have not yet worn this dress. However, this is one of those basic but interesting dresses I call The Chameleon - meaning it dresses up or down, and fits almost any occasion. With heels or wedge sandals and fancy jewelry, it will be my "formal night" dress on a cruise to Alaska next week, paired with either the sheer silk jacket or the cotton cardigan. It will be my dress for an evening wedding next month, again with the sheer jacket, heels, jewelry. And later on, for a Bat Mitzvah, likely just with a statement necklace.
Between all of that, with flat sandals, it makes a great day dress for wandering around a city, or museums, or whatever.
For reference, I'm about 5'3", and this dress comes to below my calf but above my ankle. SO comfortable, and I know it won't need ironing - perfect for travel. The lantern shape keeps it from being a shapeless "I give up" kind of dress!

Easy to Wear
I’m a huge fan of EF dresses and this one did not disappoint. I thought it would be nice to have a simple jersey dress with short sleeves for travel and September weather. I have many versions of the sleeveless jersey dress, which I love, and this adds some versatility. The cut is super flattering and the material is fantastic, better than some years. The gathering on the bottom adds visual interest and gives it a current vibe. I plan on packing this for a Mediterranean cruise in November, add an EF scarf for dinner elegance and cute sneakers for daytime excursions. I wish I ordered the blackberry before it sold out in my size.

Summer's Perfect Apparel
Since you asked, I have the Lantern dress in every color...it's perfect summer easy dressing. It's soft, lightweight and an elegant shape. I feel good wearing it.
Some fabulous contemporary jewelry, a pair of sexy sandals and a great hat... I'm dressed for lunch, dinner or a concert under the stars. In short, the dress can go anywhere!

Great design but not fabric
The dress is gorgeous and fits perfectly. Perfect length. Good flow away from body but didn't look like a tent. Pockets in the right place. But it's Tencel. I read Jersey in the description and thought the dress was cotton (my mistake). I am not a fan of the feel of tencel. And tencel often ends up being limp after time. So sadly am returning this lovely dress! Might be good for others though.

I love lantern dress style.
I sized up one size from what I got in the linen lantern dress, and I am pleased with it. I don't like dresses clingy or form-fitting. The fabric is silky and soft. I appreciate having sleeves on the dress. This dress is flattering. Every woman needs a good black dress.

This dress is lovely. I love the fine jersey fabric and the blackberry color is fab!
I’m 5”1 and the lantern shape and length doesn’t work for me. The length comes to my ankles, like a maxi. I considered having it shortened, but the cost for alterations is very expensive. I would love to have this dress in calf length. I am not a fan of the lantern with the elastic. I’m so sorry I have to return it. I’m still hoping to find a EF dress that fits me.

I really like this dress. I originally bought it in Green a while back. Just received the Purple,
and Black is on the way. I love the pockets and the hem on the dress. Yes the material is a lighter, but it is described as a fine jersey. Still I find it versatile, and at least 3 seasons wear. As is in the Summer, denim jacket or vest in early Spring, Fall and early Winter. This dress runs a little large, I like it. Something different!

I have this dress in all three colors along with the short linen cotton cropped cardigan. I highly recommend. I want to say thank you to customer service who assisted me with ordering when I was not mobile due to surgery. Better than expected
Really pleased with this dress. I was mainly worried that the material would be too thin and clingy, but it is a really nice weight and thickness. Thin enough to feel like and airy but thick enough to drape nicely and feel substantial. I am 5'4" and 155 lbs. I got a large because I like dresses roomy. I was really happy that the dress was nice and roomy without looking like a potato sack. It drapes beautifully, covers my tummy, but looks put together and elegant. The stretchy hem is cute and adds a nice detail. The dress came down longer than a midi on me. I really liked the length and coverage. Overall it feels really well made, substantial, flowy, and feel like quality. Very happy I spent the money.

simple but striking
Ordered this because of the color and the pocket design which I have in a few other EF dresses. Its elegance is in the simplicity. I might have gotten away with a M but ordered the L to account for the softness and possible cling of the fabric and it was the right choice. I am 5'4" and it grazes the very edge of my lower calf. The hem, which I was leery about is interesting without being "too much" and adds to the design interest. The berry color will take it right into the fall.

Comfortable and a beautiful color
This dress is a beautiful color. It hangs well and does not wrinkle. The material is soft but not so soft that the dress loses shape. I love wearing and have to a graduation and a birthday party.

Ridiculous Hem
I have an Eileen Fisher lantern-shaped dress from a few years back. It has a regular hem, and was tailored to accommodate the "lantern" shape. This dress, however, is how an inexperienced seamstress would finish the dress. The elastic gathered hem is ridiculous.

Perfect for Travel!
The Fine Jersey Lantern is a WOW! The color, the comfort of the fabric, and pockets! I was unsure about the gathering at the hem but it is very flattering!
