Fantastic coat!
I got this in the “almond” XXS and I love it. Previously, I had gotten it in the XS and it was too big so I do agree with others that even though it’s supposed to be oversized fit it does run large and you should go down a size when you order. I also want to mention that the color was exactly as pictured on the website, a very creamy, almond or some would say vanilla color. It is not at all, ivory or off-white, the pictures are accurate. It arrived wrinkle free, but perhaps that’s because it was rolled rather than folded. Now, having worn it, I do agree with others, that it is prone to wrinkling, which is unfortunate for an item that cannot be easily ironed or steamed. But other than that I’m happy with it, it’s a timeless and beautiful piece. And even though it’s lightweight it’s plenty warm for Denver winter weather. It’s nice to be able to have something lightweight be as warm as heavier coats. I do believe the price is a bit high for what you’re getting. I would’ve put this in the $400 rather than $600 price range.

Beautiful coat but…,
Beautiful coat but..,It had 2 ink lines on the inside of coat. I got the medium which was the size of a winter white coat belted no hood 12 years ago. This newer one is larger in the bust and shoulders. Still as skimpy through the hips. I wear a normal 14 to 16 in true to size clothing. Fisher always runs large. This color is more a dingy oatmeal instead of winter winter white. The wool quality is not as luxurious as the older coat but still kept it becit is almost impossible to get a white wool coat with a hood … so necessary when you live where there is long wet winters. It was on sale thanks goodness. It was certainly not worth over 500 retail with ink marks. Also it was horribly wrinkled so I had to steam it for 20 minutes to make sure it looked and hung well. Please do a little better at this price point.

Disappointing
The colour Almond is not ivory as it looks in the photographs - it is a light beige colour. I ordered my usual EF size and the sleeves were too short for me and it could have been a little larger in the body. It did not hang right, the fabric looked cheap and the coat looked more like a dressing gown. I have returned it.

Light but warm!
I love the light color and the fit is comfortable. The fabric is lightweight, but warm enough for the Westcoast. I love it!

Poor quality, flimsy material
I have loved Eileen Fisher clothes for years and particularly appreciate the quality. However, this coat was so poorly made and of such low quality, I couldn't believe it was from EF. I returned it and have been much less interested in EF clothes for the last year or so. I don't know if they are having them made in a third world country and just don't care about the quality. The coat was shapeless. The hood is ridiculous -- you could never put it on your head -- it's more like a collar or something. The coat sheds, so if you're wearing dark clothing underneath, you need to keep a lint remover with you. For the price, it simply wasn't worth it!

Soft as a puppy!
I received this perfect coat and was impressed by the softness of the fabric and the perfect fit! This is classic, elegant and just the right amount of warmth for my part of the world. I love the hood which is ample and cozy. Thank you Eileen Fisher for another perfect offering!

Cream color
I bought cream color, I’ve only worn it once. I hope I have more opportunities to wear it soon because it’s gorgeous. I tried on XL in the store and it fit great but sales person said I think you need to go down a size. Well now that I have a Large, I think I should have bought XL. Not sure there would be an XL left tho if I exchanged.

If only....
Really beautiful material, but the sleeves were very wide and overall fit was loose and large. It probably looks fabulous on a slim person...but looked more blanket-like on me (curvy and busty). Also, I wasn't sure how I would feel about there being no closure...but it turns out I would have liked an option...maybe a subtle large snap or two. Sadly, it went back.

A staple coat for any season!
I absolutely love this coat, especially on sale! The quality is impeccable and its style has timeless elegance. I love the hood as an added bonus for windy days or bad hair days. The side slits add a flattering flow to the overall look. It is soft and feels nice over short and long sleeves. The wrap feature and wide arms allow for layers if needed. I got the almond color and may get the grey color as well.

Yes, it's big.
Many others have talked about how large this coat is. What I didn't realize is that it is also large in the shoulders and bust. I thought they meant it was simply voluminous, which is often true with EF and which usually works for me as I am chubby in my midsection.

Wrinkles easily, and lint problem.
It’s a beautiful coat but I have to agree with others that it is easy to wrinkle and it’s hard to get the wrinkles out because you can’t really steam iron wool. In my experience, it also leaves lint behind if you wear navy or black underneath it, which is a bummer because I got it in the ivory color for the express purpose of layering it over black.

Lovely but wrinkle prone
Absolutely love this coat. It’s very soft and the simple cut classic for many seasons to come. I got it in the ivory which is kind of a tough color to find a nice coat in. However, I do agree with another review that it did come quite wrinkled in the box. And I think this is because it is wrinkle prone. It had all the fold lines which I was able to get out with a warm iron without damaging the coat. but now, as I’ve worn it, I’ve noticed it tends to get wrinkled as well. Not ideal to have to worry about ironing a coat… But overall, I’m very happy with the coat and the wrinkle situation isn’t too horrible though not ideal.

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
Oh my-I love this coat! Believe me, the last thing I need is another coat, but when I saw this coat in an Eileen Fisher store I was drooling. Even after trying it on in the almond, I somehow found the stregnth to walk away. With the amount of jackets and coats in my closet, I just could not condone buying another, especially at the original price point.....but I did find myself wandering in to EF stores and eyeing it again and again. I noticed that the gray version of this coat was sold at high end stores, but not the almond color, but also noted that in EF stores, the gray seemed to sell more quickly. I suspect shoppers were afraid the light color would show stains more readily, but OH MY...the amond color is so gorgeous. Not quite a winter white or tan. The picture on my laptop was pretty acurate. I'm 5'6" 130 lbs with a straight build and wide back and I was surprised to find I liked the fit of the xs. It still had an oversized "flowy" look to it, but felt perfect across the shoulders, arms and back. Despite living in the North East on Cape Cod, I like the fact that there are no closures on this coat, as it compliments the beautiful line and movement to the coat. The pockets are a huge plus as well, but what really sold this coat for me was the hood. This is really a 3 season coat and I was thrilled when it went of sale. I did think it was a tad over priced at the original selling price but I do not agree with another reviewer that the wool is scratchy. I do think EF needs to listen a little more about it's sizing, as I never EVER would think of myself as an xs. The coat did arrive quite wrinkled, as another reviewer mentioned. I hung it up upon arrival and it's been two days and it looks pretty clear I'll have to address the wrinkles before wearing. I think part of the problem is the shipping box is too large, so the coat moves around with shipping inside the box, causing it to wrinkle. All in all, I would recommend this coat-it's a stunner and a coat that guarantees head turns and compliments.

Blame the Golden Retriever
I ordered this coat in the charcoal color and fell in love with it when I tried it on at home. The wool is very soft, the coat lightweight, and I love the hood. It is true that the fit is generous, but I liked that. The only reason I decided to return it was the niggling voice in my head reminding me I’d likely need to carry a lint roller with me to remove dog hair from my Golden Retriever, who is a happy shedder.

Oversized and a little scratchy
I have purchased Eileen Fisher double faced wood coats previously and they were much better quality than this casual oversized coat. The wool which they describe as a "cloud" is actually a little coarse and scratchy. I am worried it will not wear well. The color in the photo looks creamy, but the actual color is more a warm taupe. I ordered a medium which is my usual size in Eileen Fisher, but I wish that I had ordered the small because my 5' 4" frame gets completely lost in it. I can't imagine what it will cost to return this coat. When my credit card showed me the final price after the US exchange on our Canadian dollar, it was close to $1200. That's a lot $$$$ for a coat that doesn't really measure up to the previous quality I'm used to from Eileen Fisher. I like the idea of the open style with the hood but I sure wish I had the confidence that this coat will stand the test of time like my Max Mara coats have or the double faced wool Eileen coats from the past. I'm torn, and not sure whether to return it or live with it.

Beautiful hooded coat
Just bought this coat today in the charcoal colour. Size extra small. I’m 5’5” 130 lbs. The hood was the selling feature for me. It’s soft and flows nicely. As well, the seamstress is sewing two snaps inside ( not visible when coat is closed) so that it can be closed during windy cold days. Can’t wait for some colder days so I can start wearing it! A bulky sweater fits well with the roominess of this long coat.

Lovely coat, but …
My husband was in the Columbus Circle store in NYC and worked with Helen, who was lovely. She tried on the coat in different sizes to make sure we ordered the right size online. Coat was delivered today and it’s all wrinkled. I am not exaggerating! I have never received an item from online shopping like this. It’s a beautiful coat — why not pack it properly? It is a mess and I would need to take this to a dry cleaner to be professionally steamed. Makes me wonder if it will wrinkle every time I sit down and not hold the shape or look as beautiful as the photo online. Helen gave the best customer service — I wish the shipping/fulfillment had the same high standards.

Gorgeous, sumptuous coat
Love everything about this coat—the length, the fabric, the hood. It brings the “cool” factor to any outfit. Dresses up jeans, adds flair to black outfits, and the almond offers a strong, complementary contrast to deep rich colors. Usually a sale shopper, I left the store with this keeper.
