Not as expected...
I chose this cardigan based on the online photos and written description, as well as the positive reviews. I thought it would be nice to have a black cotton knit cardigan. Based on the shoulder design of the cardigan (fitted, not dropped), I chose size XL. My measurements align with EF size L, but I've found that size XL often fits me much better, especially pieces with fitted shoulders. For reference, I am about 5'7" tall, weigh about 155, 38DD, hips about 43 inches.
The back of the cardigan got hung up on my hips when wearing it over jeans -- the back of the cardigan did not have a generous enough shape to allow it to drape gracefully over my hips. The front of the cardigan didn't look good on me, and I had expected the sleeves to have a wider, more generous cut. The sleeves were too narrow for my personal style -- I prefer looser sleeves even though I have somewhat thin upper arms. I like the way loose, generous sleeves hang and I like to wear cardigans over long sleeved shirts and t-shirts. I very seldom (almost never) wear sleeveless tops, so a cardigan or jacket must fit loosely and comfortably over shirts!
The cardigan's cotton lining material is smooth and soft, but it was not slippery enough for easily pulling the cardigan over a long-sleeved cotton t-shirt (my favorite style t-shirt). The ridged and brushed cotton fabric is soft, but to my eyes it seemed frumpy and undistinguished. The cardigan was heavily wrinkled when first removed from the plastic shipping bag and the wrinkles did not quickly hang out, so I imagined that my casual lifestyle would mean that the cardigan would look wrinkly most of the time.
I have other EF cardigans in other fabrics that fit me much better, are made from nicer fabrics, either resist wrinkling or look fine with wrinkles, etc.
I chose to return this cardigan because the design was not flattering on me and I did not like the fabric.

New favorite
Took it out of the box and wore it every day until the weather got too warm here. Looks good, feels right, an immediate favorite. One little regret: I bought it from Sale as soon as I saw it and didn't wait for the extra 30% off offer!

Perfect Cotton Sweater
I purchased both the medium and small and found the small to be the perfect fit. I have worn this sweater to ward off the early morning CA chill and it is wonderful. Light but warm, the perfect length for me at 5 feet. An added bonus, side seam pockets! I highly recommend this sweater.

Reading the description thoroughly.
I thought it was a-line in shape.
I didn’t realize it was a heavy knit, with ribbed sleeves.
Guess I didn’t read the description very well.
I thought it was a lightweight wool jacket. Swingy.

Wonderful Sweater
I love this sweater--it looks great and is super comfortable. It has a nice soft lining and is fairly substantial--great for keeping warm. It is good for travelling and washed well on gentle/cold in a washing bag with air drying, at least the time I washed it. Highly recommend.

Much nicer than expected
I was looking for a warm cotton sweater, as I seem to have developed a sensitivity to wool. I ordered this one and just received it, and it is warm, looks great, and fits perfectly. And it has a good smooth lining as well, that I had not expected. In the photo it looks a bit stiff and bulky, but that is not the case, it is comfortable and hangs nicely. Like another reviewer, I wish EF would make more sweaters with a button or other closure, but this is just fine for me right now.
