Too Short for Tall Gals
The construction and the ultra fine merino wool of this shell are to the usual Eileen Fisher standard. The material is soft & lovely. I also appreciate that it is washable. Unfortunately, 23.5 inches is simply skimpy on my frame. It was not flattering with the coordinating cardigan. With disappointment I left the Brownstone combo in my retail location. Also, I tried this shell in Sea Green from another retailer. This style is simply too short. I kept the Sea Green Ultrafine Merino Cardigan to wear with bone, midnight and casually with summer neutrals & jeans. I am looking for a sea green silk shell. I would recommend this merino shell to the short of stature but not to anyone in my family. We're all tall.
For reference I am 5'9", 160 lbs., 36B. I tried small and medium in both color-ways and preferred small in both.

Unflattering
Beautiful fabric and nice color. Is very short on taller person and looks odd with the long cardigan. I wish EF would make a fitted tank or top to go with the cardigan . It’s going back.

Color Comment (Brownstone vs. Dark Brownstone)
I bought this on the current sale (that started on Xmas Eve) to go w/ the matching cardigan & silk scarf. I had planned to buy the pants &/or the ribbed pencil skirt in Dark Brownstone, too, but other reviewers commented that Brownstone & Dark Brownstone do NOT coordinate well. I contacted the 1-800 support line, but did not get clarification. The rep said it is the same color but a deeper shade, but at least two reviews say they are different colors & do not go together.
The cardigan & the shell are lovely. Brownstone is a deep, warm brown. It has a hint of red in it. (From looking at Dark Brownstone online, it looks darker & without the hint of red.) The shell is cut just like one I bought several years ago in a heavier merino wool. In my opinion, the shell runs a tad small. I opted for the larger size because the knit is fine & am glad I did.

Comfortable, Tailored & Refined
One of my new favorites for the fall! Chose the black shell; goes with everything from jeans to slacks. Love the simple lines, and this merino is beyond comfortable. Soft and warm wool while also being very easy to take care of. Perfect for layering. Provides a bit of warmth without bulk.

The fit is great as it flares slightly at the bottom to avoid the “too tight on the stomach “ problem!
