Great coat for milder winters
This is a fabulous coat. So warm and lightweight, I wear it around the house for an extra layer as well as out and about over a sweater. It's not lined, so doesn't really keep me warm if it is windy. Nice deep pockets, too!

Sadly had to return..fabric looked and felt cheap and not at all the usual quality of EF clothing. It also looked like a bathrobe on me..not pretty.

Elegant comfort
This is my new favorite long sweat/coat. Very comfortable and versatile. I took advice from other reviews and sized up to XL for a loose fitting excellent layer of warmth. My husband and I are headed to the Lake District in the UK this spring. This will be my go to jacket.

Fabulously comfortable, unstructured,
Okay so I saw the negative reviews, and I understand what they mean about the dressing-gown like style, but —stay with me here— this is as comfortable and warm as a dressing gown, and while it IS unstructured, with knee-high boots, jeans and a belt, no one will think you are wearing one. I scrunch the sleeves up a bit, add bangles and a scarf, and it looks fabulous. In other words, it’s a piece you can style. I liked the minimalist clean lines. Also, here in the North East I am wearing it now as a cardigan— it’s perfect for the chill indoors when we go have dinner at other people’s houses etc. Highly recommended.

Beautiful lightweight and wonderful drape I was hesitant at first to order this I originally wanted the green but it was sold out so I ordered the barley. It’s beautiful and when the weather is not so cold plan to wear

Cozy lightweight warmth
Having read the negative reviews I tried this on today in store with some trepidation and was pleasantly surprised. This is a cute coat! I didn't find it bathrobe-y at all. I love how light it is. Coats can really start to weigh me down this time of year, but this was a pleasure to put on. Like other EF outerwear this works very well as part of your outfit. No need to check your coat-- leave it on! I took my usual size L, which leaves just the right amount of room underneath for extra layers without looking the least bit bulky.

A welcome addition to my wardrobe
A few months ago, I sadly managed to lose an EF open-front wool jacket that was one of my most-used pieces. I was glad to find this coat and ordered it in the charcoal. I am 5'5" and 130 lbs. and usually wear a small, but in this coat I sized down to an XS for a slimmer, less boxy, more attractive fit. Had I ordered my regular size, it would have looked more like a bathrobe and less like a coat, as some other reviewers have complained. I am happy to have this coat and will wear it over sweaters and turtlenecks.

Like a soft thick cardigan sweater!
I chose this coat in black, size XL. Based on the online photos of the grey and the white fabric colors, I thought the black coat was more elegant than the other colors because the seam details are sort of invisible. The design details appear to be more prominent in the grey and the white fabric: the seam thread is more visible on the white coat.
Sometimes I wear a size L, and sometimes XL, depending on the EF style, but typically I wear size XL in cardigans and some jackets and woven shirts, but size L in pants. I sort of wish I had ordered this coat in size 1X so it would have been even larger and looser, but the XL fits fine (for reference: 38DD, hips about 43", height about 5'7", weight about 160).
After reading all of the negative online reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect. But, when the coat arrived, and I tried it on, I was delighted. The coat is soft and unstructured with informal floppy front edges. I like the way the left and right front edges of the coat sort of softly fold and roll into the collar -- the seam on the jacket's front edges is narrow and that adds to the fluidity of the design. This coat feels more like long heavy sweater with big patch pockets -- the knit fabric is soft and cozy. It would be perfect worn over a light weight sweater, or a t-shirt, or cotton shirt. I'm not sure it would work over a heavy sweater. I'm sure it will look fantastic with a long scarf -- either silk or wool. It would look wonderful with velvet for a contrast in texture.
I see no problem with wearing this marvelous coat outside my house (!), and it can be dressed up or down -- worn with silk or velvet pants or denim jeans or leggings. It happily joins my collection of black EF coats and jackets in my closet. I look forward to wearing it (perhaps with the cheerfully bright cerise Italian cashmere EF turtle neck sweater that is looking forward to a cool rainy day).

Silver boucle wool long knit coat
Coat is thinner wool so it is easier to wear over layered ensembles and heavy sweaters. I bought XL for an oversized overcoat to wear over gray monochromatic outfits. Looks casual elegant.

Lack of proper finish=substandard EF sweater coat
The knit fabric of the longer Boucle Wool Knit Coat reminds me of the Mohair knit coats/jackets of past few years, which on the whole I have adored. The wool boucle knit is lofty, light yet substantial,color is a nice weathered gray HOWEVER the front edge facing folds under and is only tacked down at the shoulder seams so the coat hangs open in a sloppy, unfinished way I cannot abide. Taking a closer look, even if I were to tailor tack the edges myself by hand, I doubt the coat would hang properly or the edges remain neat. Ridiculous. Kimono styles, an EF staple year after year, must -- MUST - have a neat front edge! This is essential to the elegance of the style, no matter what the knit fabrication. In mohair versions, the front edge, for instance, is a knit selvedge that is a naturally neat finish. LOVE the big pockets, hate the slovenly look & lack of finish. This is not up to EF standards. (I wear oversized L/XL and ordered L but it was v.big.) Returned instantly.
