Lauren Pace-Specht
Graphic Design Manager
LAUREN PACE-SPECHT
Describe your role.
I help the various departments within EF to flesh out the details for different graphics projects so that the graphic designers can work efficiently. It's my job to see that everyone gets what they need, when they need it, even if they don't know what they want the end result to look like.
Why did you choose this career/position or did it choose you?
I started out working as the graphics/communications intern while still in college pursuing a degree in communications. My role and responsibilities grew organically as I learned more about the graphics department and the needs within the company.
What keeps you doing this job?
On any given day I could be meeting with our advertising team to discuss image selections for an upcoming season's poster project; talking with our manufacturing department about creating a gift with purchase for our store events; helping one of the graphic designers on our team to sort through and upload ads for our retail stores' local advertising; working with the architecture team on creating barricade artwork for an upcoming store opening. I love that my job is different every day and allows me to explore the technical, efficient, organizer side of my personality, as well as the creative, thinking-outside-the-box, problem-solver part.
What would you recommend to others interested in this role? What training would you suggest if any?
My degree in communications has served me very well, since so much of my role involves communicating with so many different people in such a wide variety of roles. Much of my training has been on the job, doing the work and learning from those around me.
What sets EF apart from other places you have worked?
The people, their commitment to the company and to each other. They work as a team and go to such lengths to provide the best work possible. I'm always amazed at the level of dedication and community here at EF. It has made my life so much fuller and richer.
