What color is an alpaca anyway?
Any of twenty-two shades, ranging from black to brown to rose gray. Our alpaca are part of a local, Peruvian supply chain that supports a centuries-old tradition of herding high in the Andes.
Raised in remote and sparsely vegetated terrain, alpaca are prized for their lustrous fiber. Royal Alpaca, Baby Alpaca and Superfine Alpaca are the finest grades of fiber, each hidden beneath the animals' coarse top coat. Because it has hollow core, alpaca creates natural insulation, making it warmer and lighter than wool. It also takes color differently, creating depth and nuance that we love.
