Bags for shopping trips. Bags for toting. Bags for storing. Can we ever have enough bags? In this half day workshop participants turn recycle fabric into upcycled fashion– using beautiful textiles collected from the GREEN EILEEN recycled clothing initiative– creating their own bag from a simple pattern that can be enhanced for a unique personal touch. Participants leave with their new bag plus the skill to replicate the project at home! Fee: $75 includes materials, use of all tools, plus coffee, tea, and a snack.

Do you remember the potholders we made as kids by weaving stretchy bands of fabric on a simple loom? Now we can make beautiful rugs using proven methods used by recycled–clothing alchemist Crispina French. Join us for a creative day of making unique, hand–woven rugs that lighten our environmental footprint while massaging the soles of our feet! Bring home your own finished 2.5 x 3.5 foot rug. Fee: $145 includes materials, use of all tools, lunch, plus coffee, tea, and a snack.

Shibori: Japanese Art of

Shibori is the centuries–old Japanese method of dyeing cloth by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, and compressing. In this workshop participants will learn the basic techniques through demonstration and hands–on application. Utilizing recycled and reclaimed materials (mill ends and other industrial waste fabrics from Eileen Fisher productions) participants will apply these decorative techniques to create their own new silk scarf plus an upcycled organic cotton Eileen Fisher storage bag. Participant may also bring they own (light colored) faded or stained washable silk garment to refresh and renew with a Shibori design. Fee: $75 includes materials, use of all tools, plus coffee, tea, and a snack.
